Swash Buckle Magazine

Wahoo the fabulous childrens programme on CBeebies Swashbuckle now have their own magazine out! We’ve been sent it to review and as soon as the boys saw it it was pulled out of hands and they started reading it on the floor. It came as most of the magazines do with a play set. Included was a pirates hat, jewels and a treasure chest. The youngest adored these by the eldest at 7 just wanted to dive into the magazine.  Its priced at £2.75 so I would say the same price or slightly cheaper as some.

Its filled with pirate adventure including puzzles, games, colouring, recipes, stories and stickers. The challenge’s in the magazine also work with the stickers as they complete them.  My 5 year old needed a little help with some of it but loved the colouring in. He adored the fact it was pirates colouring in! I’m surprised actually there isn’t another pirate magazine around as its has such a huge draw for children. All the kids we’ve had visit have picked it up and read it through, boys and girls alike!
I liked that there is an interactive app for the parents to use alongside which allows you to access more treats as you go through the magazine. The other thing I really liked is that they have obviously worked alongside the EYS curriculum. It covers everything from Maths to communication and language through to literacy and all in a great fun way that the children don’t realise.

I also loved the healthy pirate smoothies recipes  they have. The boys could wait to try these out and really enjoyed the making and drinking of them. It really to me stands out compared to the other magazines around featured for that age. Head down to your local shop down and pick one up and see for yourself!
