My Rosetta Stone Update

Gosh its been a while but I only blame this on the summer holidays and mucking about at beaches. I have been regularly clicking on Rosetta Stone site and while I’m only a couple of months in here are my thoughts:

You don’t have to sit down and block out part of the day away from the children to be able to participate. I quite happily crash on to the sofa while the boys either play on the wii or crash in front of the tv and run through a lesson or two depending on time. I’ve even relaxed in the bath and completed a 5 minute lesson.

It doesn’t feel like studying! I flatly refused to try and study at the same time to see if it really does work and all I can say is IT DOES. I’m not quite sure how it sinks in while you’re playing about with your lesson but it does.

It WORKS! I  do have a rudimentary understanding of French, I can ask for a hotel room, ask for and just about understand basic instructions and manage a hello, do you speak English please, my French is appalling but I would guarantee to get the grammar wrong and sound like Pa Larkin – Louder and Slower in the hope they understand. BUT this summer hols we went across for three days and I managed a couple of small conversations and learnt some new words without having to ask in English for help. I have now , three weeks on and two lessons a day, just managed in French to book our holiday for next year and not have them drop in to English the minute I said Bonjour!

I’m only half way through so let’s how it goes! I have still to battle a conversation with my French brother in law rather than a holiday agent whose probably use to it but I’m enjoying it and cant wait to try out more conversations!
