Stress Free Holiday Ideas & Win with Stressfreeprint
I adore the summer holidays. To me they are almost as good
as Christmas! The joys of turning the alarm off for 6 whole weeks, the bliss of
lazy breakfasts and long dusky evenings. However I suspect I’m one of the few
who view it with such delight. In fact half the parents at pickup were up in
arms with what to do with their children this holiday.
Well I’ve been very
lucky that StressFreePrint sent
me a lovely hamper of things to do with the boys this summer. They immediately
dived in to the Usborne 365 things to do and fast started book marking what we
could do. And due to the huge heatwave we had fruit juice and lemonade were
immediately put in the moulds (and then pulled out again ten minutes later to
show their friends) These have been great as we have tried everything from
frozen yoghurt, juice with fruit pieces, lemonade and oooh pretty much anything
we could pour in them. This weekend we have tried the funky vegetable….
Wonderful hey? In fact growing veg for the kids does
feature in my top ten of stress free holiday ideas:
1, Build a fort! Free and it can be made inside or outside depending on the weather. Why not as an added extra make a little picnic to take and eat within the fort too? We used binoculars to make our way around the garden and keep out of sight of Tigers & other deadly hunters back to the safety of our tent!

2, Frozen Chalk Paints, The perfect thing for hot days
frozen chalk makes for a great art project! Reading Confetti blog has some
amazing ideas for her chalk paint from making frothy ones to treasure ones but
for a simple recipe: Make up half corn-starch
to half water (add a little more water than corn-starch) food colouring and
freeze! Either into ice cube trays or into popsicles.
3, Head to a museum! I know this sounds boring but boy are
there some amazing ones out there! From the science museum in London to our
local one which displays a mummy they are not free and many run free event s throughout
the holidays.
4, If its raining why not build your own Marble run? Use
anything you find in the house from lego to toilet rolls! It’s amazing what you
can make when you start playing and trying! Just make sure you have plenty of
tape in the house!
5, Head over to the National Trusts 50 things to do before you're 11 3/4 and see how many you can complete. National Trust are running lots of events through the holidays so you can take part of any you're missing.
6, Plant a veg garden! Failing that why not a window
garden? So many plants can now be grown on windows or even on the fridge? Get a
light flower pot and glue some magnets on the back! As you can see we have
chilli in ours!
7, Have a water fight! If you don’t have water pistols in
the house why not use nerf guns or even plastic jugs? We have friends who
regular go up on the local common with their nerf and water pistols and spend
the day acting each other (they’re in the thirties!)
8, Scavenger Hunt! Head out side and start collecting. When
you have a bag full why not take them back home and make a picture with what
you’ve found? Even in summer there’s leaves on the ground or flowers to be
pressed. Sticks and stones to be glued
or if by the sea, sea weed and shells!
9, Sledding! Grab a plastic bag or even a tin tray and head
for the hills. I had a few misspent summer sliding down the hills in our local
park on plastic bags! Its just as tiring as when it snows only a lot warmer!
10, Look around at local stores! Waterstones, Homebase, Garden
centres all have fun free events on your kids throughout the holidays! Have
half an hour of peace while someone else organises the activities!
If you like any of these ideas why not start up a “mum
I’m bored jar?”
StressFreePrint have offered us a hamper to share with
you too. So enter below & good luck & enjoy the break!!
