National Stationery Day

Its National Stationery Day today and what better day to share my love of the good old-fashioned pen and paper with you. I write letters almost weekly to pen pals, families near and abroad. I also happen to email this people too, but I don’t think anything beats having a handwritten letter or note fall through your letter box and break up the general post of bills and junk mail. Even my boys have regular pen pals they have kept up with for years. Not only is it just about letter writing but I also take great comfort in handwritten lists, notes from my online studying and who doesn’t love a bit of journaling?

I think I have a jotter pad, sorry a? closer to two or three actually, in every room of the house. I started off trying to keep them vaguely organised and in a way I do. I have my study notebooks and they are kept separate from the general books which float around the house filled with recipes, measurements, drawing plans, lessons for the kids even. How on earth do tech minimalists cope? While I no longer attend school, I can’t help myself come September from getting a fresh notebook or journal! The joy of all those clean pages ready to be filled up with ideas and rambling still sets my heart alight years after I left!

I have been very lucky this year to have been sent a gorgeous Cross Pen to try out for today. It arrived over a month ago – at the start of lockdown with some fresh jotters! What a perfect time to just sit and scribble! I have planned, and changed, and planned, and drawn, and doodled, and travelled, started stories, and vented, all from the comfort of my armchair this pass month and I have loved the feeling that good stationery gives you. A pen which flows – and oh my gosh the Cross pen is like an extension of my hand it’s so smooth – and a smooth pile of paper just allow the thoughts to flow straight out my very overcrowded or blocked brain into pure joy. I LOVE stationery. I really do! So, whether you’re an author, a doodler, a designer, a student or you just need five minutes of pleasure to yourself then I can only say go and buy a blank jotter or journal and a gorgeous pen and relax! It’s amazing! And why not come and join online this week? Tomorrow is #LETSGETCREATIVEDAY Friday - #FOUNTAINPENFRIDAY Saturday - #STATIONERYSHOPSATUDARY and Sunday #SENDALETTERDAY even if you don’t want to join in you can come and search through the current posts and revel in all the beauty of all thing’s stationery with #NATSATWEEK
