Accentuate!
One of my favourite party games was sent to us this month. It
has been used – mainly among adults I have to say but personally I think this
is down to my kids appalling attempts at accents! The game – Accentuate!
One of the Dragons Den successes Accentuate is a game of
accents! This fabulous game is for a minimum of 2 teams with a minimum of two
players. It currently
RRPS for £12.67 on Amazon but can be found all the place. The box contains
a dice to determine the play and two sets of cards. One has accents and points
and the other has film quotes, a timer is also added for extra pressure!
In your teams determine who will be the speaker and then
allow team 1 to roll the dice! The dice is pictorial and the options are swap,
pass, play and all! Play means go ahead and play, All allows all teams to
guess, Swap allows the player to swap their accent card and pass allows the
player to pass their go to another member of their team. The player draws an
accent card and a quotation card. They then have 30seconds to read the film
quote with the pulled accent. After the 30 seconds are up the rest of the team
members have one attempt to guess the accent and score the point. If All was
chosen by the dice the other teams can also try and guess.
This is such a fun game! No matter what group of friends we
pull around us we have one whose superb at accents and nails it each time and
ones who just cringe at the thought alone! The film range is great but as I
mentioned previously the adults enjoyed it more as there weren’t too many films
in the pack that the kids had seen – The African Queen for example! As the
evening progresses the game gets more funnier as people relax and really ham up
their accents or are struggling to read their quote as laughing so much!
To us this was a real 5 out of 5 for a party game and we can’t
wait till the Christmas break to try this out with all of our friends!
