Christmas At The Gin Shack
What a fabulous book! I was offered the chance to preview
this book and take part in a blog hop and I am so glad I did. I was a little
bit wary originally as I was aware that there was a previous book – The Gin
Shack on the Beach which I hadn’t read and wouldn’t have a chance to before
this hop and sometimes that leaves the reader floundering when tackling the
next book but no such worries here. I haven’t actually laughed so much recently
over a book.
For Christmas time this book has it all and will be among my
must on Christmas reading for ever more. It has Gin, a fabulous cast of
Characters, Cocktails and plenty of Christmas Sprit in among the real chuckling
and laughing bits. The main character is the fabulous Olive – 84 years young
and still going strong. The book is about Olive and hers friends Veronica &
Randy who make up the Oakley Trio – all live at the Oakley West Retirement Home
and Olives son Richard. As the run the Gin Shack they have decided to enter a
competition the find the “Best Christmas Cocktail” and Olive it out to win!
For such a light hearted and fun book there was a real depth
to the character and plots too. I ended up reading this in two days as I didn’t
want to put it down!
Why try reading a sample of the book here and see if it has you
caught?
When Catherine
Miller became a mum to twins, she decided her hands weren’t full enough so
wrote a novel with every spare moment she managed to find. By the time the
twins were two, Catherine had a two-book deal with HQDigital UK. There is a
possibility she has aged remarkably in that time. Her debut novel, Waiting For You,
came out in March 2016. She is now the author of four books and hopes there
will be many more now her twins have started school. Either that, or she’ll
conduct more gin research on Olive’s behalf.
