Adding Natural Light to the Home

We have just spent a lovely day at a friend’s house. The home is incredibly full of light and we have taken away many ideas for our renovation. One thing though that we did notice was the house was so warm. I love the idea of the glass windows and a ton of natural light but I’m not a fan of the heat especially in the house. Of course, quite frankly they should have gone to Velux Roof windows shop and got blinds there. It’s one of the first things we did when we arrived home and gone are the days of the plain white or black blinds.

About as much natural light as we get!
We want to put in every room of the house at least one loft window in each room – the house is long and wide and so we have dark corridors etc so what better than to add more natural light in the house where it would otherwise not reach! Trying to take photos in the kitchen for example are almost impossible without moving everything across the room to the window. Day lights bulbs just don’t do photos justice!

The boys how ever have been battling us against it as I think they had the old-fashioned idea of a plain window and they’ve spent a long time designing their rooms down to the light blinds! But of my goodness you should have seen their faces when we showed them the Velux Blinds. There is a range of StarWars & Galactic Nights featuring some of the best images of Star Wars and (which ticks our boxes) happen to also be blackout blinds as well! There are some fabulous collections as well if your taste tends towards more Disney from Planes to Mickey & Minnie and Pooh & Bambi.

Personally, these would look at tad out of place out in our room or the kitchen for example so I have my heart set on their latest colour collection. The last thing I want is a choice of white or black when we have colour and creams! It’s a great way to make your home look more individual in its design inside and out and with the new designs they windows wont look out of place or a late after thought.
