ThaiKhun - Cookery School
At the end of last month, I was invited to my local Thaikhun restaurant.
Thaikhun make the most wonderful Thai meals and their restaurants are bustling
and full of character and ambience. The perfect place to head to at any time of
the day. Thaikhun now offer you chance to create some of their amazing dishes
at home.
Each month Thaikhun
Cooking Schools in their restaurants are offering you the chance to look to
cook a different Thai starter and main dish. At the event not only do you
discover the recipe and how to create it but you get immersed in the wonderful Thai
culture and an introduction to the fresh ingredients needed to create your own
amazing dish.
Each lesson is £50 and includes a welcome drink. A detailed
demonstration to followed by you chance to get your hands on the ingredients
and recreate the dish. One main & one starter – and the chance to eat them
between courses! Everything you need it provided and you also get to take a
goody bag home with you afterwards. Each lesson is about 2 hrs with between 6
and 6 participants.
So to review we headed up to Guildford
Thaikhun where we discovered that we were going to cook spring rolls from
start to finish and their fabulous Thai Green Chicken Curry.
We were welcomed and encourage to meet the other participants
while we enjoyed our cocktail and Thai crackers – these are very addictive I
warn you. I’ve often thought that making Spring Rolls from the very basic must
be hard work. Being gluten free I have missed them considerably but since the
course I’ve made them three times at home! I must actually cool off making
these as I’m a get fit regime and deep fried vegetable doesn’t really count!
We had tremendous fun and I can highly recommend the events. My guest and I partnered up over the equipment and we made plenty of food which we lovingly enjoyed while chatting to the other lovely people. I picked up some new techniques while cooking and realised just how blunt my kitchen knives are at home! As I said I have since cooked these dishes at home numerous times and they haven’t as yet failed to amaze the people I cooked for. One of the participants even commented that wouldn’t these be a great dish to amaze your date. It took all the hard work and stress out of cooking and they really are dishes I know enjoy cooking at home. Highly recommend!
