Panasonic Slow Juicer

This month we incredibly lucky and having signed up with Come Round parties we were sent a fabulous Panasonic Slow Juicer to review.

The Panasonic Slow Juicer squeezes the juice from all your fruits and vegetables with a special “slow” technique rather than the usual chopping action. Though I have to say there is nothing slow about the action. This action means that the nutrients and vitamins inside the fruit and veg are actually protected from damage and oxidation which is lost in most smoothie makers. It also means that the juice won’t separate no matter how long it’s left. I hate buying as smoothie only to watch it all separate within minutes in front of me.  I did try this out and left some juice for an hour in the fridge. It looked exactly the same as it had done seconds after being freshly squeezed.

This juicer – the Panasonic L500 is also amazing for the fact that not only do have you have a better juice but it comes with a frozen attachment with which to make healthy sorbets and frozen desserts. A great way to get “ice cream” in to the kids and a gorgeous way to start the day too. Just imagine a fruity, creamy sorbet for breakfast! Perfect. It simple to change over from a juicer to a frozen dessert maker – just swap the blades over. We chucked in frozen yoghurt with our frozen fruit and the result was like ice cream I have to say.

As to getting started it really is easy. The different section all have arrows on which match up and slot into place and you’re ready to go in a matter of seconds. The actual juicing is ridiculous easy too. A simple matter of rinse fruit, slice (don’t core or peel unless thick skinned) and pop in the top.  It’s incredibly compact and also fairly quiet and very efficient. It hardly takes up any room on your worktop.

Once you’ve found a home for your juicer simply turn on the button and go. The hole in the top while not huge isn’t overly small and I cut the apples in 6 and they popped down without any problems. The on/off switch will, if held, spin the juicer backwards if you do get any parts stuck. However we had all kinds of fruit and veg in it over the fortnight we’ve had it and it’s never been tuck yet! We did make a couple of mistakes at the start, not taking the skin off the oranges left the juice more bitter than we would like but that really was the worse mistake. So you can picture how easy this really is. The kids use it after school for fresh fruit juice and I’m sure we’re all healthier and eating better for it, after all frozen yoghurt ice cream with fruit is an awful lot heathier than most cereals around.

I use it daily for fresh red grape juice to combat migraines and I’m sure its far more effective that the juice bought it store.

The trickiest part in all is the washing up. My first attempt left me scrubbing the mesh for longer than I would have liked. However a top tip from a fellow blogger was to wash it immediately we had finished or to soak it beforehand. With the special brush that comes with it you can get the mesh clean in under a minute. Pretty good hey?

We have been really pleased with the Panasonic Slow Juicer having used a Nutribullet and a Vitamix and hands down prefer the Panasonic. You can pick it up at most department stores or online at Amazon and I would highly recommend it for any one!
