Novotel Hotels ran a survey last year asking who our children thought their super heroes would be. Can you make a guess? Batman, Spiderman? Well actually no, it turns out that over a third of little ones vote us parents as their super heroes. How lovely is that? So in return Novotel decided to host a free fun day each in the half term break for our children to be super heroes at home!

 Southampton Novotel invited us down this year to join in the celebrations. The boys could barely wait to get up to the room to dump our bags before heading back to the activities. They had spied Harry Potter and Superman as we headed to the lifts!

We headed straight to our first stop of Eco Warriors with our free activity booklet and got stuck straight in to help decorate their tree and show of our sorting skills! The staff were so full of joy for the event it was contagious to the children and they just loved it! Mind you straight after eco warriors we were decorating cookies and who wouldn’t have fun doing that? We moved on a to slightly more healthy alternative while  the cookies dried of a chocolate fountain and seeing just how many strawberries and pineapples dribbled in chocolate we could eat! Needless to say it was a lot!

After the cookery conquerors it was straight into the Craft Captains and the boys couldn’t wait to decorate masks for their inner super heros and build an island on which they lived! Great fun and I loved how much fun the boys were having and how much thought went into all.

Next up were Healthy Heroes and was it was really fun and interesting guessing which food gives us energy and calcium and which didn’t. Of course making smoothies and inventing new concoctions helped out! Who knew that yoghurt and milk mixed together tasted a bit odd….?!

They had a lovely wide down section as well but the boys had a wonderful afternoon trying out all the activities and are still reciting little facts to me a couple of days later!

We highly recommend getting involved and will be joining in the free activities again next year. The hotel was fabulous I have to say as well and I’ll be popping up a review of it later but do check out a Novotel next time you want a night away as a family. Play area opposite reception (xbox inc) angry bird table in the bar and fabulous staff!
