The Peanuts Movie!
I grew up reading Peanuts and following the adventures of
Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Woodstock and loved them all. While I’ve read some of
the comic scripts a while ago to the boys at lot went over their head so I was
delighted to be allowed to review the Peanuts movie with them. Snoopy &
Charlie: The Peanuts Movie will hit the shops on DVD May 30th
The boys were hooked the minute Schroeder pops up at the
start of the 20th Century Fox fanfare playing his piano. I don’t
think their attention wavered a second from that moment on. Being such a huge
fan of the old comic scripts I was a little worried that the film would have
been updated to be unrecognisable but they have kept true to the original magic
of Schulz and it shines through.
The film is lovely and gentle about Charlie Browns and of
course Snoopy and their adventures and day to day mistakes. Yet it captured the
boys and was a perfect movie to watch in the evening. They spent the whole time
chuckling and giggling and were lovely and calm afterwards too! So needless to
say this has become a huge favourite with us parents too!
The boys adored Charlie Brown and Snoopy and while the
eldest favourite character aside from Charlie Brown was Lucy, the youngest just
adored the battle scenes with the Snoopy and his arch nemesis the Red Baron and
they both shot to the top of his favourites!
The scenes throughout the film had them laughing out loud
from the talent show to Snoopys eating of the cupcakes! As to the youngest all
I have heard since is the Red Baron this and Snoopy that and we’ve had to hunt
out the original Schulz comics. We watched the film with an 8yr and 6yr old and
it was easy for them both to follow and also different parts appealed to each
of them. It’s a perfect film for all generations as the husband was drawn in
too!
