The Perfect Smoothie
I’m a firm believer in smoothies. I dislike anything heavy
at breakfast unless I can spend the morning relaxing and eating it (AKA a fry
up on a lazy Saturday) so smoothies tend to be my go to breakfast that I can
take with me. My favourite is a summery
recipe of bananas, strawberrys, juice and chia seeds. Sometimes I do add
yoghurt to it too. They really are an
awesome way to pack nutrition in your diet and to give you a great boost of
energy to start the day.
I’ve just discovered though that they are apparently also great
to have in the evening! Maxi
Nutition have a great Vanilla & Almond shake which they recommend to
have before bed to give your body a slow release of protein throughout the night.
What a great way to end the day and start the morning. When I started making smoothies I was given some great
advice as to how to get the best from them.
Start by adding in 2 types of fruit fresh or frozen (and
why not add an extra boost and add some green veg like kale)
Choose your base – ie juice, soy milk, yoghurt, coconut
water etc
Thicken it up – make it creamy! Yoghurt, chia seeds, oats
or even frozen yoghurt.
Flavour – add in maple syrup, herbs, honey, vanilla
extract.
Power boost – Vitamin powder, ground flaxseeds, wheatgrass,
bee pollen.
Voila! – The perfect smoothie to get you through the day or
night! What’s your favourite smoothie out there?
