Baked By The Sea - GF Cream Teas

I often see browsing online bakeries who will post you out cakes or cream teas but they are never gluten free! It’s hugely depressing for us with the disease of Coeliac but most recently I have found a treasure! The gorgeous and amazing Baked By The Sea.

Baked By The Sea are fresh, homemade British classics. They based just outside of Hastings in East Sussex and have a friendly Seagull Gatsby over seeing their operation! They also make scrummy gluten free products. While this is a review about their Cream Tea  they also offer brownies and cherry and almond fluffy scones too.

We received through the post the most gorgeous little box tied up with gingham ribbon. When it was opened tucked inside the box were four scones, Cornish clotted cream, jam, knives and serviettes. What a wonderful complete little box! I had both the boys and my husband oohing and aahing over my shoulder demanding me to hurry up! I loved the fact that the box came as a complete set. What a great idea to order for a holiday, a picnic or just a treat to cheer yourself or a friend up! I can easily imagine having this with me on the cliff tips with a flask of tea in all weathers.

As to the scones! The important part for a gluten free foodie! Well they were a great decent size and didn’t crumble when sliced open. The scone was slightly soft and springy and didn’t disintegrate as the jam was spread on (Jam first of course!) the cream next and then the bite….

HEAVEN! Sheer heaven! Unlike so many gluten free scones these were a real delight to eat. Perfect tasting, no heaviness and I could have easily hoovered the whole lot up in one sitting. The boys all made me share however and they all agreed they were among some of the best scones around! Everything within the box was perfectly sized and great quality (Bonne Maman Jam, Rhodas Clotted Cream) The knives were wooden and didn’t snap and just to mention again the scones!! So light and fluffy!
