1st Attempt at UpCycling!

At our last house being  a new build we were rather hard done by on the storage side (1 wardrobe in a 3bed) and invested in urgent need in a blue blanket box. When we moved since the bedroom was cooler I decide to completely change the colour scheme. In doing so I made my mum run me up some new curtains and its all in creams and dusky rose apart from my battered blanket box. Which struck in my warm bedroom a jarred note.

However I was brought up in a world of craft and haberdashery so decided to try my hand at upcycling! I headed off to the material shop where we bought the curtain material and promptly choose a different design in the same colours.
Next stop our bat cave or basement for Rory’s rather old staple gun.

Finished Product!

Thankfully having measured up nicely beforehand the material stretched around the box with just the need for a neat tuck underneath. I did have to staple down one edge neatly at the back since I couldn’t be bothered to move boxes to sew it and decided it was up against a wall so no one would notice.

I folded over the edges and stapled neatly into place and within 20 mins (excluding the half hour dashing to the local hardware store for a new staplegun having broken husbands) we have a brand new blanket box! What do you think? I was rather pleased but think I’m going to have to hunt a tassel down for lifting the lid easily!
