Young Authors Winner Update
If you
remember earlier this year Buy A Gift were offering young writers (under the
age 10) the opportunity to write a story and if it won to be published for
charity. Well at long last a superb winner has been chosen!
The
theme of the story was “The Unexpected Gift” the budding authors had their
Stories
judged by award winning writer Giles Paley-Phillips and Emma O’Donovan a
leading picture book blogger. The author will now see their work being made
into a professionally published book, sold on the Buyagift site, and all
profits will be going straight to children’s wishgranting charity Make-A-Wish Foundation®
UK.
By
the sounds of it the judges had an incredibly tough time choosing their
favourite. One story though stood out. Winner Charlotte Corrigan 9rs old from
Accrington had written an amazing story about an elderly lady who having found
herself in hospital had no one to look after her pet, a donkey! However little
Lottie steps into the breach for her!
“It really is a
heart-warming story and such a clever piece of work – well done Charlotte!”
says James Congdon of leading gift experts Buyagift.com. “It's been a real
treat to be involved in the Buyagift young writers competition, I loved going
through all the entries, which I have to say some were of a very high standard.
Myself and the fantastic Emma O'Donovan found it very difficult to choose the
three winners, but the ones we chose had just that little bit extra, that makes
for a special story”
Charlotte
loves reading and writing stories. In
her spare time, she likes to play tennis and loves horse riding. When she is
older she would like to be a vet or a jockey. "I was delighted to
win. I didn't think that my story would be picked. I love writing stories about
animals. It was really fun to enter this competition."
