10 Free Things to do on a beach!
With the weather outside as beautiful as it is and all of us
hoping it’ll last the best to be is of cause at the beach. But if like me you can’t
lay back on the sand and enjoy a good book because you have to have your eyes on
a million things at once mainly where you’re children are and what they’re
doing what not provide them with some activities the whole family can join in
with?
1, Rock Pooling! With the coast line of the UK being the
geological masterpiece it is we do not have as many long white sandy beaches as
perhaps we’d like so why not take full advantage of this and go rock pooling? It’s
amazing how much fun you can have scrabbling over rocks, looking for shrimp or
blocking dams!
2, Build a sandcastle! I don’t think any explanation is need
here! Build a fort or even a crocodile!
3, Be a pirate! Go on a hunt for treasure (sea shells etc)
or why not dig for buried treasure and see what you can find…?
4, Play a game of cricket or rounder’s. Obviously if you
have toddlers they might not quite get the rules but they’ll probably enjoy
trying to hit a tennis ball and running!
5, Have a picnic or in winter a BBQ or bonfire. We have
spent many chilly winter days running about on the beach to be followed by hot
sausages and soup in a flask.
6, Fly a kite! There’s plenty of room to run and even on the
hottest of days you can guarantee a breath of wind to lift a kite!
7, Collect up seashells to decorate with later. I have very strong
memories of gluing shells on to a cardboard photo frame or box!
8, Or a stone to paint and varnish later.
9, Frisbee! Just be careful of people around you. This might
not be the best game when you’re on a crowded front.
10, Dig a channel out to sea, build a dam or a well, or even watch the tide come in
up the channel.
