Kitchen plans....finally!
Our houses five year project had been planned fairly
carefully, we knew which rooms we were planning on doing and when. The kitchen
was one of the last to be done. It was fairly clean if a little old fashioned.
But today has bought the kitchen forward.
A leak under the sink has seeped across the floor and into
the wood under the cabinets. A small investigation resulted in the floor being
ripped up and the kitchen cabinets needing replacing. At long last I can start
dreaming my new kitchen while it dries out.
And finally after two years I can get rid of the plastic
fake wood cabinets and go for a lovely colourful kitchen. The house came
covered in beige inside (carpet, walls, tiles) and I cannot wait to fill it
with gorgeous contemporary furniture and
colour. A beautiful multi-coloured dining set for the eating end of the room (it’s
a galley style kitchen) with fold back windows behind are planned now sooner
rather than later.
The plan is to have open cabinets full of bright coloured
plates and bowls and somehow of course a bright red AGA needs to fit in
somehow. I suspect though that it might not last neat and tidy and styled for
too long so perhaps the lower cabinets might need doors to hide all my junk
away!
We also have an old welsh dresser my dad built for my mum in the
eighties. I have plans (secretly when he’s on holiday and can’t complain) to
paint it in lovely chalk paints to tie in with the rest of the room. Slowly
over the past couple of years I have been collecting little bits and pieces,
door knobs, coloured glasses, mixing bowls etc and I can’t wait to see the
finished result! I suspect it might be a long and slow process as we’re still
taking up and restoring the old wooden flooring we found under the (beige)
carpet in the hall.
