Bring the outdoors in?
Don’t you love Pinterest? I seem to waste roughly an hour or two a day looking up ideas for the house & home inside and outside. I think half my problem is not having rooms
the size they are in America which prevents me from designing a two storey
castle in the boys room! One of the things I do rather like though is the way
they take a rundown boring house that doesn’t work with modern living and
change it round in fairly easy (well they make it look easy) steps. One of the
design I most like is the bifold doors.
We’re a fairly outdoorsy and our patio door is constantly
slid open and shut all year. The problem I find with this is they don’t go back
far enough. We have a gorgeous decking/balcony which runs around the outside of
our house and I would adore on a warm summers evening to through back the whole
of the wall and tumble our life out on to the balcony and and garden as well.
I might just have to have them on both sides of the wall! |
Dining
How about being able to throw the whole wall of your dining
area open to the beautiful lazy sunshine evenings? No worries about having to
set up a wobbly table in you back garden when you want to eat outside!
Not just for use outside. If you have a large open plan living space why not pop in some aluminium ecobifold doors which you can slide back when you want the whole space open?
Play
If the boys are out in the garden I feel I have to be
there. I cannot wait till we change our doors to allow the whole of our lounge
to be open to the garden. I would love to have wooden flooring to mirror the
decking and double the size of our living space!
Garden Room
Eventually we’re going to have to have a study or room
outside for my husband to work in. The boys can’t quite understand why Daddys at
work and still in the house but being from S Africa he wants the walls to slide
away to the elements so he can write with the sun beating down on his legs!
Rather than extend why not convert your garage to a play
room or study? Cut the costs of filling up the door hole and use bifold doors
in a funky way instead?
Where would you like to make a wall appear or disappear in
your house? Personally I think I would have them all over!
