Party planning
With my
youngest having started preschool this year the pressure is on for two birthday
partys for my boys. While the eldest is quite happy to take a few select
friends and head off someone where fun for the days my youngest has got dreams
of a proper traditional party. Party games, presents, cakes, party bags. The
whole works in fact!
So where
to begin? I rather love that good old Hawkins Bazaar have some fabulous party
games which can reused at a later date for general play as well. As a child I
have fond memories of “fishing” for a newspaper fish with a stick & string.
They’ve updated this making it wooden but with two boys it makes it a whole of
lot sturdier and reusable! Pass the parcel and musical chairs are always great
for getting kids completely involved in a party and are a fabulous way to start
a party too. And of course after a few noisy games and running around nothing
calms them down for the party food & cake like Sleeping lions or Simon
Says. Thankfully I think at this age
party games are fairly simple and are a great deal of fun. The stress for me
comes with the food and party bags!
Even at
my eldest age party bags seem to be a requirement. I asked both the boys what
they felt were the requirements of a good party bag…”something to eat i.e.
sweets and a couple of fun things to play with” No pressure then! Having looked
at predone party bags a couple of years I was shocked at prices being up at £8
per bag (yes really) but back we come to the ever lovely Hawkins Bazaar party bags…. They
now do a huge range of variety. Starting at £1.50 per bag I think they might
have the perfect solution!
Now if
only they did food……!!
