Bandido Board Game

Coiledspring Games are a superb board game company who have a hugely hugely diverse range of games on offer. They recently send us a superb game called Bandido. It tucks away in your pocket and handbag and its compact little size does not do this game justice!

Bandido can be played either solo or as a together with up to 4 players. The aim of the game is to stop the prisoner escaping by using your cards to block up all the tunnels inside the prison.

Its an incredibly simple game to understand and get started and with the age rating being 6+ this is a perfect family game. We were up and playing the game within about 2 minutes of opening the pack and that was just mainly reading the 5 instructions and shuffling the cards. Its ridiculously easy to start….

To begin a game of Bandido you place the prisoner card (Super Bandido Card) in the middle of the table, shuffle the playing cards and each player takes three. The youngest starts by placing of their tunnel cards to a connecting tunnel. You then draw another card and the next player goes. The only rule is that you cannot block off any of the other tunnels with walls. You can work together to keep Bandido from escaping. Either use the flashlight cards to end the tunnel or loop the tunnel to another tunnel. To win you need to be able to block all the tunnels before you run out of cards. The Super Card has an easy side and a difficult side (more tunnels) and it really is that simple to play!

However, boy does this make your brain work! We have played this game very thoroughly and haven’t yet advanced to the tougher card side – although the eldest did try it on solo play. It’s pretty challenging for such a simple game and also for being so simple it provides an incredible amount of fun! We particularly liked how universal it was. It can be played solo but all ages but also can be played right up to the elderly age – my 92yr old grandma can’t wait to get her hands on this! It takes about 15 seconds to set up and start playing regardless of age and the kids even the young ones can set up and go without any need for adult help. It’s also as mentioned very portable! It does take up a lot of room once playing though do be warned but we have played it on the floor as well across tables.

It’s a great game to have in your pack due to its simplicity – a solo game takes about 30 minutes and I find it better than a quick game of solitaire for challenging the mind. Some games – depending on the draw & shuffle can be quicker and easier but that’s fairly rare. It RRPS for £9.99 though is on special offer in some places and we definitely agreed that its worth the money.

All in all Bandido is a superbly fun, simple and challenging game which is perfect to play from a very young age all the way through. Its quick to pick up and quick to play! I love Coiledspring Games and puzzles and its worth checking out their catalogue for your next family game night!
