Getting your family beach ready

There really is something special about piling in the car, and spending a day by the sea. Practically everyone I know has happy memories of family days spend on the beach. It is a great chance to get out into the fresh air, run around, collect shells, play games and tucker everyone out.

We make a point of always being beach ready, and I would encourage you to do the same. That way, the moment you wake up to a sunny day you can grab everything you need, and just go. There is nothing worse than wasting hours going shopping, instead of being stretched out on a warm beach.

Swimming costumes

Top of the list of items needed is swimwear. As the weather warms up gmake sure everyone tries on their swimming costumes to check that they still fit. If you need new ones this site is a great place to pick up swim shorts for the men, and teenagers in your family.

They offer every style imaginable and caters for men sized between 30 and 64, which makes it easy to find what you need. For the little ones a supermarket pair are perfect. If they’re anything like mine they’ll have grown out of them by the end of the season.
Next up you will also need beach towels, and mats. Make sure you have one for each member of the family and that they are in a good condition. It is also a good idea to take a beach brolly or even a pop up UV tent with you. We’ve just spent the day on the beach it ours and made eating our picnic much nicer!

Sun protection

Check the expiration date on your sun cream and make sure that there is enough left in the bottle to keep everyone protected for the day. I’ve been recommended in the pass to by a fresh bottle every year and to keep it in the fridge. You also need to ensure that each member of the family has a hat, with a brim, as well as a pair of good quality sunglasses. It is also wise to pack some protective lip balm.

A first aid kit

Unfortunately, when everyone is running around so much, accidents happen, so it is wise to be prepared for this eventuality. This post shows you how to put together a beach first aid kit rather than buying an expensive premade one. That way you can carry on enjoying your day rather than having to rush off to find a chemist or first aid station when someone cuts their finger. Provided the car is parked nearby, you can leave it in the boot which saves carrying it around.

A cool box

Even if you are planning to eat in a local restaurant it is still worth taking a cool box with some snacks and drinks. That way if you get stuck in traffic you will have something to give everyone to eat and drink and they wont be warm and flat.

Toys

It is a good idea to take some toys too. Items like beach balls, swimming aids, buckets and spades and snorkels make being at the beach a lot more interesting and fun, so it is always worth making space for them in the car.

Stow everything in a beach bag

Try to store everything you need in one place. That way when you decide to go you can just grab the beach bag, your cool box and car keys to get on the road.
