Easter Ice Cream Delights

This weekend we received a fabulous treat through the post. An absolutely perfect present for this time of year as the clocks spring forward, the sun comes and the evenings lengthen. What could it be?

Well it was sent to us from PrezzyBox – A Vintage Tea Party Ice Cream Cone and Waffle Dish Maker. It’s the perfect machine for making cones and waffles that taste great with either homemade ice cream or fruit baskets filled with cream. Or even the waffles drizzled with honey and nuts as an afternoon treat.  I adore the 1950’s style and the soft blue shade. It looks fabulous in our kitchen and I think because it’s so classical it wouldn’t look out of place anywhere.

Being gluten free it’s a very very long time since I had an ice cream in a cone (gluten free waffles are horrible expensive) and I couldn’t wait to get started. It takes just under 2 minutes to make each one and we make a couple at a time to ensure we have fresh and ready cones on hand. They taste great as well with popcorn! It comes complete with a cone roller so you can create perfectly shaped cones which look stunning on a table with strawberries!

They are incredibly simple to make up. Just make up the mic and pop in on the non-stick plate. Shut it up and cook the waffle. Then as its cools shape it around the cone. It comes with a recipe for the cones and we simple just substituted the normal flour for gluten free. A little more crumbly but no less yummy - and if you're wondering...yes its entirely possible to eat 6 cones in a go!

Why not add it to your next party? And if you’re feeling confident then why not make your own ice cream too. Head over to Martha Stewartspage for over 60 different ideas for your cone!

The recipe we used for Gluten Free Ice Cream Cones

Ingredients

90g of Gluten Free Flour (we used Doves)
86g Caster Sugar
Pinch of Salt
½ Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
2 Large Egg Whites
30g of Butter (melted)
3 Tablespoons of Whole Milk

Turn on your maker and allow to preheat.
Combine all ingredients except milk and whisk. While whisking add the milk.
Rest the mix for 10mins.
Spoon into machine (we used a heap tablespoons though it did recommend 2)
Cook until golden brown (about 2 minutes) 1 and half for gluten free mix.

Whip on to plate and quickly mould!
