Ravensburger Big Ben at Night

We’ve spent this week building a Jigsaw. Every evening once the lights faded and the boys come in they head straight in the lounge to work on this new puzzle. It’s the gorgeous 3d Jigsaw sent to us from Ravensburger of Big Bens Building. Even better it’s a night time version and lights up!

Big Ben is of course one of the most famous landmarks in England and the largest bell in the tower at Westminster. The night edition uses three LED lights at the base of the building which allows a lovely colourful effect. The puzzles use flat plastic pieces with special hinged pieces to ensure a sturdy building. With 216 pieces it measures 44cm tall when finished. And just in case you were panicking each piece is numbered on the back!

The board below is printed so you can leave standing as a focal point on the shelf.
We originally tried to build the lower part of the tower using just our eye site but after having to take apart about three times we decided for this bit to actually use the numbers on the back to give us a little bit of a help. (thank goodness they print them) It comes with a base and the road scene clips over the top of this and uses 4 mounting clips to hold the tower in place.  We did struggle a little with putting these clips in and keeping them there as it’s a square over a rectangle and they kept falling out. We also found that our big ben would stay clipped but rather nestled to the side of two of them.

That bit aside it was a great fun build and kept the kids busy for hours! They loved building it up and found the fiddly pieces at the top and on the clock face the most amount of fun.  They have decided we need to get a trickier one which is fiddlier for the Christmas hols! Have you built one of these 3d puzzles? Which would you recommend to follow up with?

PS if you fancy having a go yourself its on special offer at Amazon at the moment at £14! (rrps £25)
