Review: Y-Volution Flicker

Recently in the park I’ve been admiring a new kind of scooter. It’s a Y shape and seems to require a real wiggle of the hips but..! It goes up hill and seems to allow an awful lot more control and fun than the standard ones.

We were sent one to review for the boys and I have to say I am somewhat jealous! We spent the weekend playing on it in the sunshine and I have to say I did have a sneaky go. It reminded me of skiing and the workout..phew! Y-Volution have a huge range of these Y Flickers to range in ages and colour from 3+ (a1) to 5+ (a3) We were sent the Y flicker Air Lift which is aimed at 7years plus.

Like all the Y-Volution Flicker it folds up making it perfect to pop in the boot or storage cupboard and once the handles bar are screwed on (it took mins) you fold it open and click it in place with some formidable looking bolts. Built for fun the Y Flicker lets the body’s own power propels the scooter. The wheels allow it to glide on the hard surfaces with ease (not so much on soggy grass) The boys couldn’t wait to get it out to try it out and boy was it fun!

The youngest surprisingly wanted the first go. At 5 it was a little tall for him but he got the hang of it incredibly quickly and I don’t think the dimples and smiles left his face the whole time he was on it. In fact he had to be taken off it after half an hour to let his brother have a go. He picked up the brakes pretty quickly and loved how easy it was to smoothly turn and get it going. In fact we’ve having to get him one for Christmas! Both boys picked it up quickly and loved it far more than the standard scooters. The handlebars are great and won’t need height changing for a good long time despite how tall they are. In fact I had to have a quick go and managed perfectly. We all absolutely LOVED it!
