Time's Up!

This month for our Asmodee Blogger Board Game Club we have got Time’s Up! party game. Now we cant really have parties in out Tier at the moment but this game was a lot of fun to play over Zoom with friends and family! It’s a great box and is suitable for ages 12years up and up to 12 players so start sending out those Zoom invites!

Time’s Up is a quick game where the point it so guess the name of cartoon characters and famous people! Have a broad range of people on your team helps increase the odds of winning!

In the box is a range of 220 cards, a sand timer, score pad, instructions, biographies and a bag.

Each team requires a minimum of two players. Easy enough. Each card has two names one in yellow and one in black. You choose which side to use. 40 cards are then dealt between however many players you have, this is where if you’re playing over zoom it helps to have someone with strong morals! We flashed the cards up to each player and they scribbled in down on a piece of paper. My youngest did this as he was a little too young to play but still wanted to be involved.

The 40 cards are then shuffled all together and each player is allowed to look at their cards, if there are any cards that they don’t know the people on or are too difficult for them they trade their cards with the remaining cards. The selected cards are shuffled together and given to player one.

In the first round player 1 goes first describing the name on the card until their teammates guess it, they then continue with the next card and so on until the timer runs out. At this point the deck is passed to the person in the second team until all the cards are gone. The number of correct guesses are added together for each team.

When we did this over zoom we had my youngest hold up the cards for team 2’s player and so on. It was a little trickier than if they had been in the room but it was a great deal of fun and a fabulous bonding experience. We had a range of ages from 10 years through to 92 years.

Round 2 – The cards are collected and shuffled and again given to the first player. They can now only use one word to describe the person on the card. Obviously if you have a good memory you can remember some of the characters from the previous round.

Round 3 – Again cards are shuffled and back to the first player. This time its all about mining. No words so actions and humming are allowed!

The game finishes here – it takes about 40 mins depending on how many people you have in each team and the winner is of course the team with the most points. We did adapt the game slightly to play it across the internet, we’re hoping we can get siblings to buy the game too so we can have a huge game across the web, superb at a time when we cant visit! This is a really fun game to play and is the perfect party game! I cant wait to meet up with friends and play this in person next year! The prices for this game are around the £15 mark but with certain large online shops you can get this at £13.99 with next day delivery! A great fun game to play over the Christmas break with loved ones and friends!
