Splendor Board Game Review

Our latest board game from the Asmondee Bloggers Board Game is Splendor. Splendor is a strategy board game. As a rich merchant of the Renaissance your aim it to buy gem mines, means of transportation and shops. The better the empire you build, the more glory and prestige you earn!

The game is designed for over 10years old and for 2 to 4 players. The games are supposed to last 30 minutes but we have occasionally gone over this, especially at the start but now if we’re really eager we can complete it in under 30 mins! It’s a fab game to play after dinner and with friends of all ages.

No board game base is needed so the set up and take down is literally seconds so the perfect game to draw out quickly and be ready to play! The game is pretty quick to progress which the boys enjoyed, and they soon discovered that small choices and risks are while only met with small rewards are slightly steadier than big risks with the big lows and highs! It’s also pretty quick to pick up and is straight forward to pay. As mentioned, the flow is nice and quick and the time flies past! Even our 10-year-old found the logic and tactic side of the game fun and often wins!

So whats in the box?

40 Coloured Gem Tokens:

7 Emerald

7 Sapphire

7 Ruby

7 Diamond

7 Onyx

5 Gold Jokers

90 Development Cards

The quality of the game as well is superb which is pretty good as everything gets handled a lot! I love the weight of the gem tokens, it adds a real luxury touch to the game and really draws you in the ambience of it. The boys loved the design of the box and even the teen really enjoys this game. Each game is different which we’ve loved so the playability is really high! Splendor RRPs at £24 and can be bought at most toys shops and online here. Expansion packs can be bought to increase the game play. There is also a Marvel Splendor as well. You’ll find this game great fun and truly addictive!
