Schleich Educational Toys
We are rather big fans of Schleich toy animals & figurines
and we have often chatted about them on here. They are superb, incredibly
lifelike toys which just spark the imagination as soon as you look at them!
Recently Schleich launched a 16-page brochure – ‘Educational
Play the Schleich Way’. Its full of games and tips to encourage imagination and
early language skills. Basically its full of ideas to get the best out of
imaginative play. The boys in particular loved the idea of playing an Animal Restaurant
and making up special menus for the various animals we have to play with. They
even offered to cook dinner for us that evening…..freshly picked grass with
slugs didn’t tempt daddy though!
I do love that the ideas meant they put down their tablets
for a good hour while they drew menus, and they just disappeared into each animal’s
world. We did have to head back on for 5 minutes while we checked up on what
one of the animals ate!
Having had two boys and been involved a lot with children
in a day to day capacity some of the games seemed fairly obvious and straight
forward but I love that they are all in one place ready to be flicked through.
After all a rainy day is bound to happen and what a perfect way to spend it. The
brochure is intended for children though who are preschool but I think it’s
also a great idea for reception and year 1 children too. Schleich toys are a
perfect educational toy without the child realising it. We have in the past
year used them for maths, language, play, communication, even writing! They are
a great quality (we’ve had some of ours for 8yrs) and are amazingly detailed.
The boys adore them and we just love having them around the house!
