Mottisfont & WILD PLAY!

Have you ever visited a place and then found you can’t find words to quite sum up how fabulous it is?

We’ve had this with MottisfontMottisfont is a National Trust house & gardens near to Romsey. It is a National Trust house out of dreams, 18th century, with rolling lawns, ancient trees and bubbling brooks, fields of cows and places to run. It is beautiful to visit at every time of the year not just the height of summer. In fact if you head to see autumnal leaves or the winter garden you might just love it more as its not so busy!

One thing that has made us love it..WILD PLAY! Mottisfont have been working on some major projects recently and this is one you HAVE to visit! Wild Play - A natural wild play trail which weaves though the grounds, from climbing to damming water channels and pumping water straight out the river to exploring fishing huts and swings from trees. If you have been taking part in the 11 ¾ tasks this is a perfect place to complete a whole load of them in one idyllic day!

A beautiful map (worthy of framing) leads you along the trail to explore. As you reach each new activity there are wooden signs with challenges to take part in. As autumn starts it might be worth wearing welly boots to explore as I imagine that climbing and exploring along the water channels could get slippery.

Hopefully the pictures can tell the story better than I!

  1. Lucinda I love the look of this. I think we need a wild trail for Coombe Mill, infact I'm pinning it! What a great idea from the National Trust and your boys clearly tried it all. Thank you for sharing with me on country Kids.
