Visit Tower Bridge in Winter

Visiting any city in the winter can be a little gloomy but we’ve just come back from filled week in London. We stayed up near Tower Bridge and headed out to explore every day.

Staying

There are some gorgeous places to explore, visit and stay in London from hotels near the Shard to amazing boutique flats. The post was in written in collaboration with Hotels.com.

Exploring

Of course you can visit London as a tourist without heading to the Tower of London and so of course this as the first place we headed.

Tower of London

Entry tickets are a variety of prices and you can buy for a little bit more a pass that also allows you to visit Hampton Court and some of the other palaces and places around London.

The tower is huge! Definitely put on your most comfortable of shoes as there is so much to explore. The famous white tower in the middle is 475 steps up and down the towers alone!

Before we could head up to the White Tower though we had to go and visit the Crown Jewels. No photos are allowed inside this bit but oh my gosh its worth going!

There were hardly any queues as you’re on a moving platform and this allows everyone a good look without the need for elbowing yourself to the front. Out the front of the Jewels entrance are two guards and I think for the boys this was one of the most fascinating parts of the day!

HMS Belfast

It’s incredibly easy to spend the day exploring the Tower alone but within 5 minutes there is also so much more to visit. A trip to HMS Belfast is just the other side of the bridge. Built in 1936 it is a Town-class light cruiser which was built for the Royal Navy and now stands alongside the Tower bridge – 5 min walk - as an Imperial War Museum. Entrance is less than £18 and offers an incredible experience.

Tour London

Being one of the most visited cities in the world London offers the chance to explore it in a variety of ways. From the good old buses which tell you all about the highlights as it takes you from destination to destination you can also from the Tower bridge hop on one of the boats – inside and outdoor seating and head up and down the river hopping off and on where you wish to spend more time. Westminster Palace, London Eye, Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe and so much more!

Eat & Drinking

Aside from the huge amount of places to visit and tour there is some gorgeous eateries and cafés in the area.

Vicinity

We ended up collapsing after a day exploring at Vicinity along the front of the river. The rain and wind were blowing almost vertical, but this fabulous place has outdoor sheltered sitting in front of the river and bridge with warm fires, cosy cushions and lovely blankets! It is the perfect place to curl up with a hot chocolate, warm up and refresh before heading off to explore a little more!

The Ivy

Yes, why not visit The Ivy at tower bridge? An amazing menu which caters for all diets this place is perfect for indulging in the finer side of life in London all the while having one of the best views too! Watch the sun go down and London light up over their dessert of chocolate truffles!

The Watch House

A great place to grab coffee and pastries and sit down! Designed to showcase the history of the building and the area. It also has a fully stocked bar and a small but fab menu. A perfect place to wake up to the day!

The spending money to explore was gifted by Hotels.com, but all views are my own.
