You Wouldnt Want to be an Egyptian Mummy
This week the boys were over the moon to head to our local
theatre and go and watch You wouldn’t want to be an Egyptian Mummy. We’re huge
fans of this series of books so couldn’t wait to see it come alive on stage. Salariya Book Company (the people behind the
series) & Mr Dilly have joined up together to make this happen! WAHOO!!

Mr Dilly
World of Wonder was the man fronting the show and right from the start the boys
were hooked, repulsed, fascinated and laughing almost at the same time. And
quite frankly who wouldn’t! There was a huge amount of audience participation
from the children and adults. The show is incredibly fascinating while being
incredibly funny. The amount of facts that they can remember even a week later
that they learnt while laughing at the jokes is incredible. I don’t think age
is an issue to watch this. From the age of 5 up to adults there is humour and
interest to appeal, child jokes with some adult jokes crept in kept the adults
all amused and laughing too. If only history lessons as school were this fun!

It’s a one man show but as I said a lot of the audience is
involved in the casting and performance which is superb. The number of props
and costumes were superb and really spot on. The highlight of the show for the
boys was Mr Dilly actually making an Egyptian Mummy in front of us very
accurately – no real dead body though -right down to the scarab being placed over
the heart.
It really was wonderful to see one the rather fascinating and
gruesome history of the Egyptians come to life in such an engaging way. I
cannot wait to see more of this collaboration and will be first in line for
tickets. I don’t think any of us have laughed and learnt so much in an hour
ever before!
