Woolly Mahoosive
A British craft company I cant wait to introduce you to is Woolly Mahoosive. Everywhere in the
craft world at the moment the crazy is for big chunky knitting which looks incredible.
Well Woolly Mahoosive evolved from their desire to find this extremely chunky knitting
yarn in the UK and they dont disappoint.
From arm knitting – which I cant wait to try out – where you
can whip yourself up a gorgeous blanket in an evening to some of the most
beautiful craft kits woolly mahoosive has got something for everyone.
We were sent the gorgeous lampshade
kit which comes with everything you need including wooden knitting needles
so after you’ve made your kit you can head off and start creating other cool
projects. They range is available in a variety of colours – mint, pink, grey or
cream, we chose cream. The only thing is doesn’t include is the actual light
stand.
So how did we find it? Well as with all the chunky wool it
hardly took anytime to make up at all and instantly looks fabulous and glamourous.
We had a little trouble making up the lampshade. Having made lampshades before
with kits worked a little against us as I think we were expecting it to be
similar. Of course, with wool you can’t peel it off if you don’t place it down
right! That being said I think we did a pretty good job and I think they look
stunning in the room. The blanket you make is placed over sticky plastic to
give it some support and then you place this round the rings. When you’re
making this with fabric you then roll the fabric over the top of the rings and
tuck this underneath which with the chunky wool you can’t do and it wouldn’t look
right. However, there is no actual need to do this so don’t panic. Because the
wool is sealed as it were with the knitting it looks finished just being left
without any need to roll over.
To make both lampshades from total start to finish took a
rainy weekend and we loved it. The kit is superb and such high quality! I’m a
total convert to thick chunky wool and also to Woolly Mahoosive. I think the craft
set is good really from beginners up, obviously some ability to knit or
something to practise with would be good but otherwise this kit suits everyone even
advanced crafters. As I mentioned the quality is really top notch and I loved
that the needles are included and allow you to get straight on to your next
project with them. Delivery was nice and swift and again the wool is lovely!
You could quite happily bury yourself in it -hence the desire to make an arm
blanket. Woolly Mahoosive have a huge range of kits and wool and if you’re just
starting out you can try their chunky acrylic wool. Personally, I cant wait to
get started!
