Science Museum Timeline

The boys are both science lovers so when our blogger board game club sent us the Science Museum TimeLine game they were thrilled. We’ve never played timeline games before but a lot of their friends have and have raved about the games.

The aim of the game is to basically build a timeline in the correct order and be the first person to finish their cards. The game comes in a handy little tin which has a place for the cards and the instructions lay on top. Superb for popping in your bag or rucksack and producing when out and about! Each of the cards are double sided but fairly small – about two inches in height. The pack includes 110 cards ranging in date so there’s a huge amount to try and remember each time which allows a great playability in our books as they’ve played the game since numerous times and cannot remember the dates on most of them still. The cards have a date on the back and the scientific, technological or medical achievement on the front.

The cards are dealt date side down and the number of players determines the amount of cards each player is given. When the cards have been dealt the pile, left is placed in the middle and the top one turned over to show the date. You then each turn has to make a guess whether one of your cards goes on the left (older) or on the right (younger). Once they have chosen this the card is then turned over to show the date. If it is correct it stays there if not then it is discarded. A new card is then drawn, and the play continues to the next one.

The game is incredibly quick to start – as I said before it’s a superb game to have in your bag to produce when you have time to kill. It probably takes us a little longer than most to play a game as the boys get really interested by the facts and want to google them to find out more info! The game does last a fair while. It’s suppose to be a 15 min play time but I think that depend on how many players you have (2-8 players) and whether you have to start and look facts up!!

The tin retails at just under £14 but also allows you to mix in with other timeline additions to make the game for more challenging! All in all it’s a great game and has suited all range of ages including adults. Its quick and easy to pick up and start, theres no long explanation and it is superb to take on holiday! In fact all in all a really great game!
