Something which my parents and grandparents are noticing very much now as they change homes. Many bathrooms in homes have tiled floors which with the slightest hint of water resemble an ice rink. While many of us get around this by mats these of course can be a danger in tripping. In the past couple of years tile technology has leaped hugely and such things as ceramic tiles to resemble wood flooring or porcelain are designed to grip even with water on them and to be slightly more forgiving for falls than the old-fashioned white flooring tiles.

In fact many accessible bathrooms can be as luxurious, relaxing and stylish as any designer would wish for. It is much easier to create a bathroom with longevity than ever before without the need to compromise.
