5 items that should be in your kitchen cleaning kit
We all dream of having a perfectly clean kitchen - but you can’t expect your cooking space to look spick and span unless you’re armed with the right cleaning products.
There are a whole host of sprays, scrubs and wipes available that have been specially designed to help you maintain a gorgeously gleaming, germ-free kitchen. It’s extremely easy to get your mitts on these products too. You can find cheap cleaning products online, in your local supermarket and even at the corner shop, so there’s really no excuse for this part of your home to be anything but glistening from top to bottom.
However, with so much choice, it can be difficult
to decide exactly what your kitchen cleaning kit should include. To help you
get started, here are five must-have products you shouldn’t be without.
1. All-purpose
cleaner
Like its name suggests, an all-purpose cleaner
can be used to clean practically any surface in your cooking space, making it
an essential product for your kit. Whether you need to wipe down your worktops,
scrub the floor or wash a tiled splashback, this type of cleaner can be
effective in helping you remove grease and grime from pretty much anywhere. For
maximum cleanliness, it’s a good idea to go for one with antibacterial
properties.
2. Microfibre
cloths
While regular cleaning cloths are handy to have,
microfibre versions are a total game changer. These cloths are ideal for wiping
up bits of dust, crumbs and other debris that may accumulate throughout your
cooking space. The superfine fibres of the cloths mean you can get into small
crevices, making it easier for you to clean those hard to reach places. They
also leave surfaces with a streak-free finish.
3. Limescale
remover
Have you ever noticed an unsightly, crusty white substance gather around the taps in your kitchen sink? This is known as limescale, and unless you’re equipped with an effective remover, it can be difficult to get rid of, so it pays to include this product in your kit. Simply apply the limescale remover (I use bicarb of soda and vinegar) to the affected area, give it a scrub and you should find that it comes away with ease.
4. Bleach
Bleach is another product your cleaning kit mustn’t
be without. This product is useful for cleaning tough stains, and it is
particularly good at removing dirt from stubborn areas such as the grout between
tiles. However, bleach is a highly abrasive product, so it’s recommended that
you use it sparingly.
5. Rubber
gloves
The truth is, your hands are extremely delicate and it’s important that you protect them - especially when you’re using products containing harsh chemicals. So, before you get stuck into your cleaning, make sure that you slip on a pair of rubber gloves. These accessories will provide a barrier between your hands and the cleaning products you’re using, meaning that you don’t need to worry about your skin becoming sore or irritated, and you can avoid touching anything unpleasant too.
