Stay Healthy This Winter with Haliborange
“Sniff……..cough cough……sniff” is the chorus which greets me
every morning as I take my kids to school. The amount of the kids in the
classroom have slowly dwindled each morning in the run up to half term. This
will of course get progressive worse again after Christmas as the winter term
really starts to hit. There is nothing worse than your little ones having a
cold or flu over winter!
So what can you do? Well below are my tops tips for staying
strong and healthy over this time of year.
I know this might sound obvious but so many children (and
adults) sneeze or cough into their hands then push a door open or grab a
shopping trolley. The next person pushes the door or takes the trolley and lo
behold they now have the flu germs on their hands. I’m a real advocate for
washing hands! The alcohol gel? Well doesn’t actually kill the germs it just
sticks them to your hands so they don’t come off on your food! Yuk yuk, use
soap and water!
Drink
Water.
Yes, this might sound a little crazy but actually if you
become dehydrated your natural mucus become slightly drier and thicker and you
are less likely to be able to cope against invading virus in the air.
Supplements.
I have two fussy eaters in the house so trying to get the
right number of vitamins down them is a hard task, more so in winter when fresh
fruit and veg aren’t so appealing. Haliborange, the UKs No1 child supplement brand, step up
here with their fabulous range of vitamin and immune system supplements. My
very fussy youngest will quite happily have one of their rather wonderful Mr
Men & Little Miss Vitamins. With the range featuring a whole range of
different combinations of minerals & vitamins to support each stage of
childhood, my eldest is in the middle (they support from 1yr to teenage years)
likes the taste of his and has the added benefit of being a having Omega-3 DHA
(proven to support normal brain function & vision) which is suited more to
his lifestyle and study!
PS Haliborange are so proud of their Softie products – if you
don’t love them to they’ll give you your money back! See their Ts&Cs on
their site.
Get out.
The grey skies might not look inviting but wrap up warm and
get out. Your natural immune system is increased when you get out and start
doing exercising. So why not use this opportunity to explore some beautiful
woodlands as the leaves change colour or take advantage of being out of season
and head down to the beach? Your immune system stays higher for the following
day after exercise too!
Get your
sleep.
The season for parties is coming up but remember to try and
get a good 8 hours each night. If you inadvertently picked up a cold germ
you’re more likely to succumb if you’re tired or run down. So, gather up your
cosy blankets, warm pillows and have the occasional evening in on the sofa.
Your body will thank you for it in the long run!
