Anki OVERDRIVE

Anyone out there stuck for a Christmas present for their child, partner or parents this year need to check out the rather fabulous Anki Overdrive set. We were asked earlier this month if we would like to review the Anki Overdrive Starter Kit. While I was umming and ahhing about it my husband glanced over my shoulder and insisted we sent back an immediate yes having heard about this from a work colleague with teenagers.

The Anki Overdrive is an amazing kit where you use your mobile device and take command of real robotic Supercars. The starter kit allows you to build up to 8 battlefields (it takes seconds to set up each track) you can then battle and race against your friends and families in these AI controlled cars.

In the Anki OVERDRIVE starter kit you receive:

2 Robotic Supercars – Skull & GroundShock
10 track pieces (6 curved & 4 straight)
2 little pieces to add in hills
1 four-car charging system
1 tyre cleaner

As soon as the box arrives open it! While you build your track (each piece is magnetic & sturdy so incredibly quick to build) download the Anki OVERDRIVE app on either your iOS or Android device so you are set to start racing. One thing my friends and I love about this is that it allows multiplatform so two of us can have iOS and 2 with android but can still all play. The secret is not in the track as with the old clunky Scalextric but in the super robotic cars. The kit comes with two of these cars. Pop them straight on charge – 10 min charge should fully charge the cars for a good 20 mins of play.

Once the cars are placed on the track they do a couple of slow laps where they get to know the track. One this has done you are ready to start playing. Using your device, you can start racing and tilting to steer. Get up close to your competitor to use your cars secret weapons to create a battle. Skulls weapon is the Plasma Cannon – a massive fireball of energy causing damage to anyone nearby when it explodes. GroundShocks weapon is ElectroPulse which continuously causes a circle of lightening that damages its nearest enemy.

The game is aimed at young children between 8-12yrs but oh my gosh I cant tell you how much fun this is! I have played it after the boys have gone to sleep, with the boys and with friends round. It is such a fun and exciting game for all ages and generations! The boys adored the different modes – time trial, race, battle & king of the hill. It’s so easy to change and you don’t just have one track with one car!

We all loved that we could all play and with extra cars all four of us can join in and battle it out! As a gift for the family this is most definitely worth the price tag of £139.99 The amount of hours of play, imagination and fun this has created is Amazing! As I said its perfect for the whole family. This is not just a toy for kids but to play with anyone and personally I think should be a No.1 toy for Christmas this year!
