Half Term Hygge with Plusnet #halftermhygge
This half term ours fell later than most and we were lucky
enough to enjoy the gorgeous weather all week. However, the evenings are still
cold and gloomy and we really enjoyed the box that Plusnet sent us. A little
box to embrace Hygge over our half term full of goodies and inspiration for a
lovely cosy evening.
Our box was gorgeous and actually gave us a lovely idea of
making some up to hand out locally! Inside were battery operated fairy lights,
bunting, popcorn, hot chocolate spoon and instructions on how to hygge, a Danish
butter biscuit recipe and some much loved fort inspirations!
If you’ve managed somehow to avoid the hygge way of living (hoo-gah) that has recently come over to
us from Denmark then briefly it it’s the Nordic way of living which is to
embrace togetherness, cosyness and contentment – think friends round, low
music, low lighting and general warmness inside and out!
So how better to spend these early evenings still then having
friends round, having fun building a fort then relaxing inside it while the
lights are dimmed, the popcorn pops and the movie starts!
We had great fun building a series of forts but the favourite
was a peaked tent over the top of the sofa with cushions and rugs to snuggly
into! Friends enjoyed making sofa forts on the other side of the room and we
all enjoyed hot chocolate and marshmallows as the Angry Bird film got to the
exciting bits!
Both were easy to do – cushions flipped and blankets hung and
then the house was explored for the comfiest rugs and softest cushions. We had
a go at the biscuit making (they were eaten before photos could be taken) and
later six happy but exhausted children lay content in their various forts and
snuggled down to proper hygge style warmth. Fire lit and lights lot and the
room lit by fairy lights!
Thank you to Plusnet for sending us this box – we have since
made up and taken round to friends a couple of identical boxes. If you too
fancy joining in you can find out all about it here.
