Valentines day for Outdoor Lovers

When my husband and I started dating a lot of our dates took place outdoors, beaches, mountains, woods, as long as it was outdoors. Now of course while strolling along a beach in summer is romantic how on earth can you make the outdoors romantic during winter? Well that’s rather easy!

Take your date out for dinner. The most important part of this is location! Location Location Location! In the UK we have a huge abundance of hills with scenic views, beach just perfect for hand in hand walking, even woods make the perfect picnic area.

Next you want to set the scene. This is where a fabulous Zippo lighter comes in handy. Wind and even rain proof (if it’s raining bring cover! Cold & wet is NOT romantic) they are perfect for lighting candles, fires and BBQs. Bring some candles – mine are in jars to help protect against setting dry nature on fire. And bring blankets & cushions... While you have your zippo light to hand why not if your date is an outdoorsy person slip in their pocket one of Zippos gorgeous hand heaters? It actually stays warm for 6hrs (we did time it!) You want your date to be comfortable after all! DO ensure your date is dressed for the outdoors. Bring warm jackets and a sleeping pad is amazing for snuggling down on to while your embers die away and you can lie back and look at the stars.

Food & Wine!

For picnics keep the food simple but good. Why not include a personalised wine bottle to keep forever. I love this one from GiftsOnline4U, it’s a gorgeous deep merlot and the taste was wonderful – smooth and rich – perfect for the woods! Doesn’t it look great? It’s also a great bottle to keep and turn into a light later, stay tuned for that post. Local cheese and a warm crusty baguette are the perfect accompaniments to the wine. Follow this up by strawberries and truffles for an amazing tasty date.

Lastly – don’t forget torches! Its highly likely that you might still be there after the sun sets and no one wants to get lost heading home in the dark!

Valentines day gifts for the out of doors lover!
