Sunshine holidays without the flying

Did you know most people book their Summer holidays in the months after Christmas? With such gloom outside its lovely to sit there and look through sunny brochures of where you can go holidays. But when you have a family is it still easy to go where you want to? I particularly hate flying but will brave it, however, we have friends whose children cannot and will not board a plane. So how can you still get some lovely holidays without flying? Easy! You can even head abroad too!

Train

A tour across Europe. I always wanted to go inter railing as a teenager and thought when I had the boys that would be it and I never would. But actually you can still do this as a grown up even with tinies and older ones. Head to London then head out on the Eurostar to Paris. From there pretty much everywhere in Europe is reachable in real ease and luxury. The train system in many European countries like France, Italy, Austria & Switzerland are miles better than ours in the UK. Apologies are given if the train is a horrifying 5 minutes late! Night trains can take you further down through into Italy and Crotia too.

Cruise

As you know we’ve been on a small cruise with the boys overnight but we would love to head out one weekend with packed bags and check out one of the last minute cruises from the UK. There are so many amazing ones that head out of our Isles and local ports and means you won’t have to fly and will take you around our coastline or to the Channel Islands off of France, some even go further abroad from ports such as Southampton to the US, Canada or Africa. If you fancy something a little different, why not try a last minute cruise deal and try a tour and cruise together?

Ferry

The Channel Islands incorporate a small selection of Islands just off the coast of France. They enjoy the sunshine of the north west coast from France while still under the rule of the UK. With nearly every person fluent in both languages this is a gorgeous place to take a ferry to and spend a long weekend soaking up the gorgeous sunshine rays, beautiful beaches and amazing food! Or why not take the night ferry to Spain. Leave at sunset and head out of the ferry at sunrise with breakfast awaiting you on the Spanish coast?

Automobile

As mentioned before we now have a tunnel which links us up to Europe. In less than 20 mins you can have driven your car from the UK and be on French soil. Head down the main roads from Calais and follow the names “sunshine route” within a day you can be on the beaches of Nice & the Cote D’azur! There are amazing places to head around the sunshine coast for families! Drive along the stunning coast to Monte Carlo and why not into Italy from there? There are camping sites if you wish to take your own tents or why not rent a self-catering villa on the beautiful Amalfi coast

Stay

Surprisingly enough we have our own long sandy beaches and beautiful turquoise seas. Head down the West Country and try and beautiful and scrumptious Cornish cream tea! With cliffs to climb, rock pools to explore and sandy beaches to make castles and relax upon, Cornwall can be a wonderful place to head off to with a short travel time and long sunny hours!

Where ever you decide to hit the sunshine this summer enjoy and remember regardless of where to go to pack the sun cream, flip flops and sun hats!
