Sea Life London Aquarium

This weekend we headed up to London for a day to start the holidays. We were lucky enough to be offered a family ticket to review Sea Life London Aquarium. Having had a bad time of it with trains on our side of the south east we decided to half drive up to London and headed to a nearer train station.

Head to County Hall, pass the London Eye and the Shrek Adventure and head inside…On a side note it took us about an hour and half to go round the London Aquarium I would buy a ticket which entitles you to also visit either the Eye or Shrek – you get a discount and it fills the day up…

We headed in and picked up a Dory & Friends leaflet to use as we headed round the Aquarium. Being a Saturday and especially Summer Holidays it was busy so I would highly recommend booking your time in advance. It will save you a lot of time in the queues!  We had a lot of difficulty with the tanks seeing inside as it was so very busy and full of adults pressed up against the screens. Battle past the buggies those and use your elbows and you are in for a delight. Our youngest isn’t great in enclosed, busy and dark spaces. Do bare this in mind if you have a little one like this too as it did make it a little difficult as we went round. A LOT of people stopping dead to take selfies!!

The boys loved exploring the different zones on offer. There is a huge diversity of sea creatures and sea life around. There are constant exhibits to draw you in throughout the aquarium and a huge message throughout of conversation and how much damage is being done to our planets.

A planned route takes you around the aquarium so you don’t miss out on any of those zones. Some areas are quick and easy to walk around while others – the shark tanks and walk through – tend to get congested easily and require a lot of patience. We did struggle to get the kids a good view especially with the Pacific Wreck and glass tunnel with adults refusing to let smaller kids through to see the attractions. However daddy has great shoulders to lift and carry boys around on!

The boys favourite however was the interactive screen where in front of your eyes you have a killer whale diving in the ocean and a mother bear and her cubs troll past you! The boys also liked the chance to touch a star fish and seeing the sharks. We did find it slightly odd that on a Saturday, summer holidays and the hottest day of the year the only place to get a drink or ice cream was shut.

The Sea Life Aquarium is very interesting and good fun but prices are a little high I think but shop around. You can get deals with your Tesco clubcard points. 2 for 1 offer with Merlin and as I previously mentioned getting a deal on visiting another attraction the same day all help. I think next time we visit we’ll try and take in the London Dungeons as well! Why not make it a longer stay in London and check some great places to visit.
