Review: Teksta Scorpion

The boys loved the latest range in robot toys that are around. We’ve tried out the puppy and T-rex but they LOVE the lastest! Probably because they know there is no way that they will be allowed real one ever…A scorpion!

In the box which RRPS at £40 you get a Teksta Scorpion, a target and a tilt sensor robot control which attaches to the back of your hand. It does require a lot of batteries though which are included so do make sure you buy! You need 4xAA which runs the Scorpion and 2xAAA for the controller. Its aimed at 5yrs plus.

The RC attaches to your hand and you can control the Scorpion to move forward and back and left and right and make it stop.  You can also meet up with your friends to go into battle. Up to 5 robots at a time. All the legs move to give a great effect (no gliding on wheels!) and it uses a great jaw action to snap at objects including the one which comes in the box. When you’re ready to go the eyes light up and you can let battle commence!

The boys enjoyed it and cant wait for their friend to get one so they can meet up and battle but there are a couple of irks which I hope they sort out soon. One we’d set the frequency the first time we didn’t realise that we had to redo it every time we switched it on. Also we found a couple of times a leg came off but we’ve found this with other Teksta products. It’s easier enough to click back on but with two boys in the house it happens more than I like!

The remote can be used either by being held in your hand or by being strapped on the back. Needless to say one child prefers it one way the other the opposite! The movements though were pretty spot on. I would recommend playing it on a hard surface though rather than carpet as it lagged a lot on ours and the boys found it frustrating. However in the kitchen it went pretty fast much to the dog and cats dislike!

I think this is a great addition from the Teksta team as though its aimed at 5+ it appeals far more than the puppy and kittens to teenagers and they ones we’ve had round playing for it love the fact it battles other scorpions and you can get quite a few playing at once.

As mentioned before it RRPs at £40 and you can but it at all good toys departments.  Amazon have it on on special offer at the moment at £29
