Dream home ideas
My parents finally have their house on the market (wahoo)
and so the time to delve into the likes of Rightmove and Zoopla has
arrived. Obviously I shouldn’t be
looking on there as it is after all their house but who can resist a lazy
morning spent dipping into the houses which you’ll never be able to afford
outside a lottery win?
I have my little list of things I would require or like in
a dream lottery house. Of course by far first up is location, location,
location. A house on top of a cliff by the sea would be an ideal. Just picture
being that close and obviously I do dream of no neighbours being around, the
cliff top to myself and a private beach to wander down to. (It might be a
couple of lottery wins by the way) As to the house design…well! It’s a close
between an almost southern American plantation style house or a lovely old
converted barn. I think by this point in my dreams I might now own all the
coast about 5 miles to the left and right of the house but that’s allowed in a
dream yes?
While I was “researching” houses for my folks I came across
the most gorgeous looking house which was based around a circular staircase. In
the centre of the stairs was a home
elevator! How incredibly cool would that be too get you up to the fourth
floor rather than running up and down a million times a day. Currently this
strikes rather a cord as my lovely grandma and another close friend are
recovering from hip opps and we have a had great conversations about the bonus
of ThyssenKrupp Encasa stair and platform lifts. It would
make life a lot easier for them I know and boy would I love one at my ringing
tower! I’m normally too exhausted after pelting up the church stairs to ring
the bells when I get there! Of course I would also love a slide to make coming
down easier too!
Inside this dream house I have an image of a very large
window two storeys high that looks straight out on the sea. (The farm is of
course just round the back of the house so it doesn’t spoil the sea views)
Another must have is an AGA with the obligatory labrador and spaniels asleep in
front of it! The bathroom large enough for chairs to sit (the kids always come
to visit me while I’m there so they might as well be comfortable) and despite
having the gorgeous coast outside a swimming pool would be rather nice too!
Ah well we can dream can we not? I suspect my parents will
ignore my bright ideas and end up going for a bungalow!
