Fruit Heroes - Review
Trying
to get the right amount of fruit and beg down the children’s throats can be a
tricky task and often between meals they want to snack. After all they do get
energy from their snacks so wouldn’t it be great to be able offer a snack which
they’ll eat with pleasure which is also healthy for them? Well now you can.
Gluten & dairy free Fruit Heros are
also sulphur dioxide free and despite having a shelf life of nearly a year and
a half have NO preservatives in and they count as 1 of your 5 a day.
We were sent their selection to try and the boys both adored the Apple & Raspberry bars. They are made up of dates, raspberries, apple, sunflower oil and lemon juice. That’s it! A perfect treat for lunch boxes, snacks or just to carry round in your bag for when they need it! It doesn’t go mushy like fresh fruit!
They
weren’t so fond of the banana flavoured one but neither is a fan of them fresh
so I’m not overly surprised. However it’s not a waste as not only are they
great little snacks but they’re also perfect for home baking! I know right?! In

What
you need to make about 25 pop cakes
300
g (15 pieces) Fruit Heroes fruit bars with blackcurrant
240 g (12 pieces) Fruit Heroes fruit bar with banana
2 bananas
1 lemon
2 tablespoons dried cranberry
¼ lb. grated coconut (+ ⅓ lb. to roll in)
A little water

Method
Cut
the fruit bar into small pieces.
Roughly chop the bananas.
Finely grate the lemon zest and squeeze the juice from half a lemon.
Blend the fruit bars and the bananas with the lemon zest and juice, dried cranberry, grated coco and a bit of water.
Shape the fruit mass into round balls, roll them in grated coconut, and put them on a skewer.

Store
the pop cakes in a glass or wrapped in cling film. Can be refrigerated for up
to one week.

a great way to use up the ones the boys didn’t like as they loved them like
this!
