#CraftTheParcel - The Final Piece
Before Christmas myself and a few
other bloggers were asked to take part in project called #CraftTheParcel. Two
teams of nine bloggers were asked to make a 12 x12 inch quilt square to attach
to the previous bloggers square resulting in a nine patch to be sold for
charity.
I’ve been watching my team and am
amazed by the sheer diversity of techniques used! From crocheting to buttons to
printing on fabric each square is a delight. Being used to quilting myself I
decided to go for a more traditional patch and decided on a bird in a tree
I have used paper piecing and my
plan can be found here.
I used a couple of fat quarters I thought would go with the rest of the quilt
and cut out all the birds and leaves. I then sewed each individual leaf one to
lining and sewed them down. I rather like the effect and would probably want to
make the picture much larger myself and included a bit of embroidery. It was a
little tricky sewing the last square on but I think the finished product looks
rather impressive. Paper piecing is a great way to start quilting and I would
highly recommend giving it a go! Who knows what design you could make!
The project is being run by InPost. A new postal service which allows to
you to send & return goods through their numerous lockers at your own time
even if you’re on shifts and only free in the middle of time you can collect
your goods. No waiting in for couriers.
