Oliver Jeffers & the chance to win!
Arent the colours beautiful? |
Oliver Jeffers…..He first made a name for himself with this book and you only have to open the pages to see why…..10 Years on How To Catch A Star is still a huge favourite among children every where. I know this for many reasons. I used to work in Waterstones and met the wonderful man myself and saw the huge line of children and adults and even teens all queue up for over an hour just to meet him. He signed, smiled, chatted away for hours while his fans were there and firmly became a huge favourite for me among the child authors around. He has a lovely charm for telling stories, he claims its down to his Irish upbringing, which just shoots across the page to you immediately you open the pages. Lines like “He thought he could fly up in his spaceship and just grab the star. But his spaceship had run out of petrol last Tuesday when he flew to the moon” not only provide amusement for the child reading but give the adults a fair chuckle too. Almost a novelty among pictures books these days! Take a look at the video below to meet the author for yourself.
To celebrate a decade of this gorgeous book Harper Collins sent me
out a pack including wonderful activity sheets and of course a hard back copy
to read. Just to spread the joy further they’ve allowed us to share this with
you. Click HERE for your own free printables around this story and enter below
for the chance to win a 10th Anniversary Edition of How To Catch A
Star of your very own. If you’ve yet to discover the story for yourself it’s an
enchanting story in Oliver Jeffers own words of “a boy who loved stars very
much. One day he decided he would catch his own, but first he needed a plan….”
