The Croods DVD
When The Croods came out in the cinema our little ones were ill so we missed the phenomenal family movie the first time round and quite frankly at 98mins long I don’t think my youngest would have been able to sit still even with popcorn bribes. Roll on DVD & Blue rays!
Mumsnet were very lovely and picked us to watch and
review the film before it goes on general release on 9th December
just in time for Christmas and the long dark evenings!
“THE CROODS was
written and directed by Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch) and Kirk DeMicco
(Space Chimps), and features the voices of Nicholas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan
Reynolds and Catherine Keener. When their cave is destroyed, the Croods family
set out to explore a spectacular landscape filled with fantastic creatures and
strange surprises….”
The movie has a great storyline (I won’t give away
too much in case you haven’t see it..yet) Eep (Emma Stone)is the daughter of a
family of cavemen and one of the few family’s to survive. The Dad (Nicholas
Cage) tries to protect them from anything new and dangerous but Eep finds this
too mundane and heads off…
With a couple of scary will he/wont he survive parts
this is a lovely, beautifully animated film which captures all ages attention (from
3 to 36 in our house) With real laugh out loads moments and slapstick easy
laughs (loony tunes style) for the boys this movie has been created by a
beautiful imagination and it comes across throughout. We’ve watched in a couple
of times now and the boys still laugh in the same places and each time discover
something new, although Belt (the sloth) has remained a firm favourite
throughout!
Being Dreamworks and Fox though and rated as a U
movie its fairly easy to follow but our youngest at 3 found some of the chases
scenes a little scary but overall there aren’t any death or unpleasant scenes
but do be prepared for some questioning about the end of the world!
Overall great movie, funny and engaging with a wide
selection of humour and action but from 6ish upwards I would say.
The Croods is released on December 9th with blue ray costing £15.
