Country Kids: Nature Walk

At last we have managed to link up to Fiona's Country Kids again! This weekend we decided to visit the river (well stream) by my parents. They are big fan of Halcyon River Diaries so we do make regular trips down to check it out. On the way my eldest decided to point out all the bits of Spring he's been learning at school so we have spotted new seedlings and learnt to tell how old a tree is.....

From little acorns mighty oaks grow....

Buds...

Letting the leaf boat go...

Poo Sticks means...

great fun!

our little bit of the river...

Counting the rings!
Climbing the last trunk..
And then being too tired to go on.....

  1. I love this post, the pictures flow so beautifully with out the need for many words, I can picture myself there with you on your walk! There looks about as much water in your river as ours at the moment, not often you can cross in a pair of wellies! Great for the kids to be able to see what they have been learning at school, so much of the national curriculum, right on our doorsteps! Thank you for sharing on Country Kids
